I really expected the bite off the beach to turn on strong the last few weeks and we did have some good days but it was very inconsistent. As the weather becomes more consistent so will the fishing along the beaches from Melbourne to Vero as well as Sebastian Inlet. Tarpon, Snook Redfish and Jacks should all be a solid bet along the beaches and in the inlet as the bait pods move to shallow water.
The schools of and Bonito should also be on the beaches and will be feeding on glass minnows and threadfins. This is the perfect scenario for the fly fisherman that likes a good fight.
The Sebastian River, Turkey Creek, Crane Creek and the Eau Gallie River are good early in the mornings in June with action from Sharks, Jacks, Snook and Tarpon.
Inshore fishing is best early also along the spoil islands from Palm Bay to Vero Beach as well as the mangrove shorelines for Trout, Redfish and Snook. The bite will shut down for the artificial fishermen fairly early but will last longer in the morning for those using live bait. Live pinfish, pilchards and pigfish are the baits of choice to entice the fish early.
